Historic New Leadership Role for Women in the Canada Area of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

A meaningful development is underway in the Canada Area of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For the first time, women across Canada have been called to serve in Area Organization Adviser roles—leadership positions designed to mentor, support and strengthen Relief Society, Young Women and Primary leaders throughout the country.

Since the introduction of similar positions in international areas beginning in 2021, the role of Area Organization Adviser has played a growing part in the Church’s efforts to bring added instruction, guidance and unity to women’s ministries around the world. These advisers work under the direction of their Area Presidency to provide training, encouragement and spiritual support to local leader councils.

Elder Vern P. Stanfill, President of the Canada Area, said this initiative reflects a deep commitment to build up sisters across Canada by bringing experienced women together to share insights and uplift others in their callings.

This shift comes at a time of continued growth and organization for the Church in Canada, following recent announcements about the creation of the Canada Area office in Toronto and expanded leadership support for members nationwide.

Who are these leaders? What inspires them about this calling? And how do they envision serving sisters across the country?
