Exciting progress continues on the Victoria British Columbia Temple! The First Presidency has announced that the groundbreaking ceremony will take place on Saturday, August 22, 2026, marking another important milestone in bringing a house of the Lord to Vancouver Island.
The temple will be built in Langford, British Columbia, on a 4.7-acre site and will feature a single-story design of approximately 11,400 square feet, along with a patron waiting area. The Church has also released the first official exterior rendering of the temple. Elder James E. Evanson of the Canada Area Presidency will preside at the groundbreaking ceremony.
For members of the Nanaimo Stake and throughout Vancouver Island, this announcement is especially meaningful. Since the temple was first announced in April 2024, many have looked forward to the day when temple blessings will be available closer to home. The upcoming groundbreaking is an exciting step toward making that vision a reality.
