A historic moment for Vancouver Island is just around the corner. Members and friends of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are invited to watch the groundbreaking ceremony for the Victoria British Columbia Temple on Saturday, August 22, 2026.
The temple will be located on Mantle Heights Road in Langford, British Columbia, on a 4.7-acre site. Plans call for a beautiful, single-story temple of approximately 11,400 square feet, along with a patron waiting area. The temple was first announced by President Russell M. Nelson in April 2024 and will be the second temple in British Columbia, joining the Vancouver British Columbia Temple.
For members throughout Vancouver Island, including the Nanaimo Stake, this groundbreaking represents an exciting step toward having a temple much closer to home. The ceremony will be presided over by Elder James E. Evanson of the Canada Area Presidency.
